Class creates motivational t-shirts for Children’s Home of Reading

As part of a psychology class project, Penn State Berks students were assigned the task of creating a design depicting motivational concepts for a children's t-shirt. The class will present nearly 60 shirts to representatives from the Children’s Home of Reading on Tuesday, April 26, 2011 from 12:15–1:00 p.m. in room 101 of the Franco Building.

Students covered the cost of purchasing a t-shirt, markers, paints, and any other material they chose to use in creating the design. The shirts were created outside of class.

"Each design is different; every shirt unique. Some simple, some elegant ... all inspiring!" explains instructor Dr. Jim Huber, who teaches the Introduction to Psychology course. Huber, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and Director of Huber Interactives, wanted the shirts to go to underprivileged children who may benefit from the inspirational message. The theme "I'll give you the shirt off my back" is designed to instill the importance of community service in students.
