Berks Top Chef Challenge
Penn State Berks will hold its first Top Chef Challenge in which students in the college's Hotel, Restaurant, and Institutional Management (HRIM) program, as well as other members of the Penn State Berks community, will showcase their culinary skills. The challenge will be held on Tuesday, March 24, from 7:00-9:00 p.m. in the Lion's Den of the Perkins Student Center and is open to students, faculty, and staff of the college.
Four contestants will prepare their own chicken entrée and attendees will have an opportunity to vote for their favorite dish. The contestants include Tina Cyr, Army chef and HRIM major; Jacob DeHaven, CIA Chef and HRIM major; Adam Mattocks, Penn State Berks chef, and community member Jason Girard.
In addition, there will be four "celebrity" judges including Penn State Berks Chancellor Susan Phillips Speece; Bill Laychur, Penn State Corporate Executive Chef; John Walker, Director of Housing and Food Services at Penn State Berks; and Linda MacDuff, Manager of Housing and Food Service at Penn State Berks. The Top Chef Challenge is sponsored by Penn State Berks Housing and Food Services.
