Profile:

Dr. David L. Sanford is an Associate Professor of Ornamental Horticulture and also the College of Agricultural Sciences Representative for undergraduate education at the Berks Campus. His research interest is in the evaluation of both woody and herbaceous plants species for their adaptability and use in southeastern Pennsylvania landscapes. He is also conducting research on improving the seed germination of native mid-western wildflower species.

Dr. Sanford is active in the International Plant Propagators’ Society (member of the Board of Directors and Chair of the Long Range Planning Committee); the National Perennial Plant Association (serving as Treasurer and member of the Board of Directors); Garden Writers Association; as well as the American Society of Horticultural Science. He actively works with the Pennsylvania Landscape Nursery Association where he recently received their Exceptional Leadership Award, which recognizes and honors an individual for their volunteerism and outstanding achievements in the association in the horticultural industry.

Dr. Sanford has been recognized by the Berks Campus with the Outstanding Advisor Award and has twice received the Berks Campus Outstanding Service Award. He has been a member of the Berks Campus faculty for over 18 years.
